Our first AXIOM affirms two things:
God is always present
God is always at work
This may sound super basic! But that's going to be the case with something so true that it doesn't need proof. Still, we don't always live like it is.
FROM THE BEGINNING
In Genesis, when God created everything and made a garden in which humans would live, the whole point was for God and humanity to dwell together. God’s presence would be in the garden and humanity would participate in the garden’s cultivation.
Then came The Fall and the humans were removed from the garden.
God spends the rest of the Bible revealing his presence to us and inviting us to join in God’s redemptive mission in the world. This culminated in Jesus, called Emanuel – Which means, “God with us.”
THINGS CHRISTIANS CAN STOP SAYING:
1. "God cannot be in the presence of sin"
The Bible shows us that God can not only be where there is sin, but that he INTENTIONALLY ENTERS those places to be present with us!
Examples:
Noah and the ark
Moses in the desert
Israel in exile
THE LIFE AND MINISTRY OF JESUS
God is dedicated to revealing his plan of redemption for the world. That is why we call him EMANUEL "GOD WITH US."
2. "God showed up"
This implies that God was not there before, and demonstrates our inability to discern the constant activity of God.
We normally make this false assumption because we don't FEEL like it. But just because we don't feel like it, doesn't mean it's true. Now our feelings DON'T LIE to us! They simply show us the assumptions we operate out of...sometimes, those truths show us that we do not know the true omnipresence of God!
SO, IF GOD IS ALWAYS PRESENT AND AT WORK…
HE IS NOT ONLY IN YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE, BUT IN YOUR REGULAR LIFE, AS WELL!!
Begin to anticipate that God is present even in the low, small, medium and ordinary moments! Your feelings will reveal to you what you really think about the presence of God. Learn to see it on your daily path!
