When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

— John 8:12 —

In a period of less than 3 decades, the way in which human beings communicate, interact, inform, investigate, create, and have fun has been redefined. The reality is that we live in a digital age, today more evident than ever in the history, whether or not we are aware of this, whether we agree or not. The church has been assigned the task of sharing the Gospel, carrying the message of Christ to the world, making disciples of all nations. Christians have been at this task for more than 2,000 years, and now we are witnessing a resurgence of the Great Commission and the rise of a new generation of Christians with tools, platforms and opportunities that previous generations of Christians could not have imagined. Although digital tools such as blogs, social networks, and all the platforms available to communicate the message of Christ are of great benefit to fulfill this task, we must be attentive to the dangers and seductions of the digital world, aware that each new Technology can be used for both good and evil. The word of God teaches in 1 Corinthians 10:23 "Everything is permitted," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is allowed", but not everything is constructive.

Being an "influencer" and having thousands of followers is not bad in itself, what really makes sense of that influence is the reason why you do it. The invitation is to evaluate your priorities, define your motivations, know where your heart is and be more followers of Christ instead of wanting more followers. When we are intentional in following Christ as our model first, we can bring hope to the people who we surround, because He is the light of the world.

In your devotional today, I invite you to reflect on your habits and the way you interact with other people in this digital age. Am I fulfilling that assignment that all Christians have? Am I influencing my community to show the light of Christ? Your testimony is unique and if you place it in the hands of God, surely He will use it as an instrument of edification for many. Deuteronomy 13: 4 reminds us: “Only the Lord your God should you follow and worship. He keeps his commandments and obeys him; serve him and remain faithful to him. "

Prayer

Lord, I want to follow you and be able to show your light to the people around me, so that just as I follow you, they too will be your followers and find your light. Train me in all that is good to do Your will. And that through Jesus Christ you fulfill in me what pleases you. To you be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13: 20-21)
